From the mouth of Elon Musk himself:
"We expect to deliver a small number of [Model X] units at the end of next year."

Sounds promising as the performance EV plot thickens.

I'll start saving now.

Why are all the cars I like brand new from the ground up, and likely full of bugs and initial production issues?!?

Hopefully this will be full of Model S bits with the bugs already worked out.

Too bad it looks like there will not be much third row space, headroom in particular.

This could be the real killer app for suburbanites if it has enough room for a significant portion of kids' soccer teams. I expect to see these sprout like weeds (very elegant weeds, mind you) from garages all over the Bay Area. If Musk is really smart, and he keeps proving he is, he will make sure the Model X can get to Lake Tahoe from the mother ship in Fremont, or provide convenient supercharger locations along that route. He will sell all he can build if he can assure his target demographic that they can get away for the weekend in his new toy.

I hope so, but to a certain extent early buyers are still going to act as a beta testers. Tesla however, seems to have nearly unparalleled customer service when it comes to quickly dealing with problems.

I'm surprised they aren't going to lengthen this, personally. Enough for standard removable third row seating, use the length to add extra batteries underneath for extra range, and voila.

I'm guess no gullwings either.

Good question.

That's the biggest change I noticed. Tesla made a big deal about the sparrow wing doors or whatever they were calling them, but this version obviously does not have them. These rear suicide doors are a bad choice. Every experience I've had with them has been bad (unless they are small and relatively useless, like the RX-8 rear doors).

No rear view mirrors! I don't see one inside, and it looks like small camera pods where the side mirrors would normally be.
